Manx Connections

Jack Cormode	My grandfather, Daniel Cannell Cormode, immigrated to America in 1904. He came to Bishop, California where there were already a few other Manx families. The Cormode family has been in Kirk Andreas since Viking times, but my grandfather grew up on the Curragh Beg farm in Bride. My grandfather's mother was a Cannell of Kirk Michael, by way of The Nappin in Jurby.
Dee Hickman	My grandparents, Beatrice and Andrew Woodward, lived at Lower Ballachrink, Breeze Hill, Laxey, Isle of Man. They got there in l9l6 and their deaths were (Andrew) in l947 and (Beatrice) in l964. Their daughter, (my mother,) Beatrice Lilian, lived with them in Laxey from l9l6 to l929.
